Orwell Park School welcomes Ukrainian children
Inspired by the international reaction to the tragic events currently taking place in Ukraine, pupils at Orwell Park School have been delighted to welcome three pupils seeking refuge and a safe place to continue their education; brothers Danylo, Kyrylo and Tymofii have joined classes in Years 4, 6 and 8, and are participating in the full curriculum, including academic lessons, sports and activities.
The family left Ukraine last week, eluding the curfew and enduring an exhausting journey to the Polish border, a bus ride to the city of Lublin, and finally a flight to the UK; they are currently guests of the Nath family (with Harry, Year 8) and staying in their family home in Ipswich.
Headmaster Adrian Brown commented 'it is vitally important to be able to offer those who shape our future world a place of security and continued learning, and just as important for our pupils to be part of that process'.
