1. Enquiry

Having studied this website and looked at our Prospectus, we are confident that you will want to visit Orwell Park and see for yourself all that it offers your son or daughter. Contact our Registrar for a tour of the School including Prep, Pre-Prep and/or Nursery, or to ask any questions you have.

2. Registration

Parents are advised to register their child as early as possible in order to avoid disappointment or being placed on a waiting list. A Registration Form can be found in our Prospectus or is available to download via this printable Registration Form and our Terms and Conditions Acceptance Form is available to download. The registration fee of £100 (Non UK £150) is non-refundable. For Nursery and Reception pupils, if parents are only accessing the 15 hour funded sessions they do not need to pay the registration fee. As soon as the hours increase, over 15 hours, the registration fee will be payable.

3. Visiting the School

When you visit Orwell Park you will be met by the Registrar and Headmaster, Guy Musson. You will be given a tour of the School and a chance to meet teachers and see pupils at work and play. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and to discuss your son or daughter.

4. Admissions Criteria

Orwell Park welcomes all pupils regardless of background, religion or ethnicity. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate pupils with learning difficulties or disabilities so that they are not disadvantaged in accessing the curriculum. In a minority of cases, parents may be advised that the School may not be able to meet an individual childʼs special needs.

Entry to the Pre-Prep (ages 2½ to 7) is non-selective on principle.

Entry to the Prep School (ages 7 – 13) is selective and prospective pupils will be expected to show evidence of satisfactory work and progress before joining. Recent school reports are always helpful in this respect.

For older pupils, the School may use short tests in Maths, English and Reasoning to assess academic ability but, more importantly, to place a child in the right class on joining. Again, recent school reports are very helpful here. The School has an excellent record of success with pupils requiring Learning Support. An assessment by the Schoolʼs Learning Support Co-ordinator is a condition of entry.

5. Admissions Procedure

On receipt of your completed Registration Form, a place, subject to the above admissions criteria, will be reserved for your son or daughter. Once a place has been offered, a deposit will be required to confirm the place (UK £500, Non UK £750 and Nursery £100), generally during the academic year prior to joining. This deposit will be refunded less any disbursements incurred when a pupil leaves the school. The deposit is non-refundable in the event that a pupil does not take up the place.

6. Taster Days

Boys and girls will always be invited to spend a morning, perhaps a whole day, at the school before joining on a full-time basis. This is an opportunity to meet current pupils and teachers and to see the school in action.

To arrange a visit please contact the admissions team on 01473 653224 or admissions@orwellpark.org
