Afternoon activities are run on non-games days. All activities are meant to be a period for structured enjoyment and are both numerous and diverse. A few of our recent activities are listed below:

Art (open sessions and scholars’ art), Assault Course, Bracken Bonanza, Brownies, Blueys (Boys’ Club), Ceramics, Chess, Coding, Craft Club, Cross-country, Debating, Drama, DT, Football, Goldies (Girls’ club), Gardening, Golf, Lacrosse, OPS Challenge, Orangery Lectures, Photography, Pistol Shooting, Sailing, Sculpture, Squash, Swimming, Star-Wars Role Play, Textiles, Woodland Fun.

The school also has variations on afternoon activities for different year groups.


Middle School

Pupils in Years 3 – 5 have one structured activity each week. These are designed to give the experience of high-value activities to all our pupils. The remaining activity may be selected by the pupil. Our current Carousel activities are:

Team Building, Chess, Current affairs, Community service, Cookery, Ceramics, Design Technology and touch typing


Years 6 & 7

Pupils in these year groups have one session of OPS Challenge each week. This is an internal scheme run along the lines of the Duke of Edinburgh award. The remaining activity may be selected by the pupil.


Year 8

Pupils in Year 8 are expected to complete one ‘work extra’ session each week, in preparation for Common Entrance or Scholarship examinations. The remaining activity may be selected by the pupil.
