Celebrating 150 Years 1868 – 2018
In this 150th year of the School, celebrating from the early days in Aldeburgh to the eventual move in 1937 to Orwell Park, there have been a number of events to which Old Orwellians, from all years, have been invited: a Commemoration Service in Aldeburgh Church, a reception at the House of Lords and a recital at St Mary, Abchurch in the City of London.
The next celebratory event is the 150th Ball on Saturday 16th June (for enquiries about tickets or tables please contact Nicole Brown at firstname.lastname@example.org) and, at the end of term, the School’s Summer Concert at Snape Maltings on Friday 29th June (tickets available from Snape Maltings Box Office). We would love to see Old Orwellians at both these events, please do get in touch if you would like more information.
There is an active Old Orwellian community enjoying reunions both at School and at other locations, such as London.
- The Half Century Club is a club which Old Orwellians are invited to join when their date of leaving the school is over fifty years ago. There is a lunch once a year specifically for the Half Century Club which is held alternately in London or at school in November.
- We hold an Old Orwellian day in June, a golf day in May and a biannual art exhibition and concert for Old Orwellians. We also hold decade reunions in London.
- An Old Orwellian newsletter is published twice a year. Contributions and news from Old Orwellians are always welcome. Copies of recent newsletters may be found below:
We welcome informal visits from Old Orwellians, please do contact the school to make an appointment. For more information please contact the Old Orwellian Secretary, Sarah Kirby-Smith on email@example.com or 01473 653274.
