Thank you so much to Peter Webb, Old Orwellian and current parent, for the riveting talk he gave on Rowing on top of the world. Around Spitsbergen in an open boat at Tuesday’s Orangery Lecture. Pupils, parents and staff spent an absolutely brilliant hour listening to Peter recount some of his adventures, which included his frighteningly close encounter with a very interested polar bear! He and his partner, Shaggy, rowed 1100km in 30 days which is an amazing achievement and not without huge risks and danger.
Orangery Lectures are given each term on a Tuesday evening by guest lecturers on a variety of topics at 7.00pm and are open to pupils and parents.
