The first Orwell Park School Eco Fayre, organised by Caroline Brunt, for parents and pupils on Saturday 9th March was a huge success. The School’s Eco-Committee, formed of pupils and staff, and led by Tessa Besley, had worked hard to bring the burning issues of climate change and sustainability to the attention of the pupils with fascinating talks on plastic pollution, the carbon footprint of food, and the electric car. The pupils and parents enjoyed the variety of stalls selling plants, ceramics, items made from willow and eco-friendly products to name but a few. The children enjoyed the many ‘have-a-go’ stalls, including making bamboo insect houses, bird baths and paper. The event has raised the fantastic sum of £1000 for our charities: Foxhall Trust Lavender Centre, Action Against Cancer and 4Ocean. Thank you so much to everyone involved for helping make this such a successful afternoon.
