A fantastic day today at the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival with lots of visitors to our stand. The pupils all performed wonderfully and were a credit to the school and if that wasn't enough, guess who we met...!
Our Head Boy and Head Girl visited the Lavender Trust Foxhall Day Centre to deliver the gifts donated by Orwell Park families at our Pre-Prep and Prep School Harvest Festivals last week. We are looking forward to visiting the centre again as it is the local charity we are supporting this year.
Congratulations to the U14 ski team, Edward, Angus, Ralph and Laurence who have qualified for the finals of the ESSkiA 2018 Championships which are being held on the 6th and 7th October. This is a fantastic result, particularly given the number of schools involved. Well done!
The week ended in the Pre-Prep with a lovely Harvest Festival service in St Martin's Church led by our Chaplain the Revd Canon Ian Wilson. The children sang beautifully and the Head of the Pre-Prep gave an address on harvest celebrations around the world.
Araminta and William, our Head Boy and Girl, spoke beautifully, and eloquently, to an Orangery packed with visitors at our Open Morning today, about their time at Orwell Park. Who better to talk about the School? The sun is shining and the park looks glorious today!
For our first Orangery Lecture of the term, we welcomed Alex Hibbert, polar explorer, who gave a lecture entitled Polar Eskimos and Icebergs: not giving up when you strike bad luck! We were delighted to welcome to school, for Monday's assembly, representatives from two of our nominated charities for last year, Mercy Ships International and The Bus Shelter, to receive cheques for £2,858.00.
