How Britain delivered the 2012 Olympics, Orangery Lecture

We were delighted to have the Rt Hon Sir Hugh Robertson KCMG, DI Chairman of the British Olympic Association deliver a lecture on How Britain delivered the London 2012 Olympics and where Olympic sport goes next as part of our weekly Orangery Lecture series. He gave a fascinating insight into the organisation of the London Olympics as well as the GB strategy for future Olympics.   Sir Hugh spoke on how bids to host the games work, the pressures faced by athletes, the cost of hosting the games for Great Britain and the Paralympic Games.  Question time at the end overran considerably which was a testament to how entertaining, informative and interesting the lecture was.  We are grateful to Sir Hugh for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit the school. In the audience were pupils who hold either national or county awards in their chosen sport.  Perhaps some future Olympians will have been inspired!
