We were very sad to learn of the death of Ted Blackbrow at the weekend following a short illness. Ted was absolutely passionate about the school and for many years had been the school’s press officer. He had a generous spirit and a dry sense of humour and was hugely popular with staff, parents and pupils.
A larger than life character and a hugely talented photographer he worked for the Daily Mail for 37 years but was in Fleet Street for over 50, taking some of the most iconic photos of the past few decades. Ted’s photos were syndicated all over the world and his skill with a camera achieved an almost legendary status. The Daily Mail have written their own tribute to Ted which was published today. Ted wrote his own book What a Life! which is full of the photos which made his name in Fleet Street and looking through it is easy to see why. He found the angles others hadn’t thought of and was able to see beyond the obvious.
Ted will be greatly missed by us all.
